Synopsis
In the 24th Century, the planet Mars has been terraformed into an aquatic world known as Aqua. A young girl named Akari Mizunashi has arrived from the planet Manhome (Earth) and settled into the city of Neo-Venezia, a city based upon the city of Venice. Because of the many canals in the city, Akari has arrived at the Aria Company, a water guide company in the city, in order to train as an undine (gondolier). The problem is she isn’t exactly very skilled at sculling a gondola around the canals, but can be almost unmatched when rowing backward. However, she quickly makes friends with an undine named Alicia Florence, one of the three most accomplished undines on the planet.
Akari is also a most unusual girl, often finding excitement in things that others find boring. She is also in the habit of writing letters to a mysterious person back on Manhome.
