Synopsis
Sybel is a photo-journalist who only seems to care about the BIG story... so much so she threw-out her husband so that she could concentrate on her career. However, the latest story she stumbles across may prove to be more than she can handle.
She, along with reporter Leakey, head out to the forest outside the city, where a military exercise is taking place. They soon find, much to their dismay after they are captured, that it is in actuality a recovery operation. It seemed that a floater vehicle had been sabotaged and brought-down in the woods. It was carrying two battle mechas that would specialize in infiltration and assassination. But because they have no cooling systems, they are of short range but soon quickly wreak havoc among the soldiers trying to capture them. One of them is destroyed, but the other escapes.
After Sybel cuts herself loose, she finds to her horror that there is a serious glitch in the mecha's system... or more like an omission. It seemed that the original targeting program was not dumped from the mecha's computers and is now hunting the target designated on the program – the creator's granddaughter Ferris, who is currently enjoying a night on the town. Now Sybel has to hurry and find this girl and save her – before the mecha finds and kills them both!
This anime is based on the manga created by Masamone Shirow, the creator of Appleseed, Appleseed: EX Machina and Ghost in the Shell, with Shirow as one of the OVA's directors.
