Burn Up Scramble
From OtakuWiki
Synopsis
Oddly as it seems, this series is an alternate version of the two series Burn Up W and Burn Up eXcess. Although there are subtle changes in the characters, all the action, thrills, laughs – and fanservice – remain the same.
One of the characters changed is that of the principle protagonist, Rio Kinezono. While still blonde and busty, Rio's personality is changed. For one thing, instead of selfishly looking for a rich man to marry just so that she can leave the police force (and her debts behind), Rio is genuinely trying to find true love and marry a caring man. The one problem is that a lot of her boyfriends either date her as a joke, clean her bank accounts... or as in one instance on New Years Eve, her boyfriend had a boyfriend of his own!
The one thing remaining the same is that Rio is as hard-hitting when on duty in her real job, as a member of a top-secret police assault team known as "The Warriors". Rio is a martial-artist who had achieved the highest proficiency in her fighting style, even able to dodge bullets fired at her. But most of the time, she wastes her money on cheap charms to try to find the love of her life.
Maya Jingu is also changed. She is now portrayed as a quiet, efficient young officer in the police department. Although the almost-sexual fascination with firearms is gone, she is still portrayed as an expert in firearms, and is the top-sniper in the Warriors. But she still has a few odd quirks about her, like collecting automatic pistols and giving them names. She also has a bad habit of bluntly pointing out Rio's shortcomings... which often results in Rio bringing her back to painful reality.
The biggest changes is with Lilica, now known as Lilica Evette. Instead of a pint-sized computer expert, Lilica is now portrayed as an extremely-powerful, busty, but highly-insecure telepath. Her power is so dangerous, she wears magnetic handcuffs normally reserved for dangerous criminals. Although her powers are many, because she had lived in almost-total seclusion, mostly because of the dangerous nature of her powers, Lilica is often clumsy in social situations, but looks up to Rio as a role model, even addressing her in the honorific 'sempai'.
Even the one male protagonist, Yuji Naruo, is changed. Instead of being portrayed as a camera-wielding pervert, Yuji is now the son of a wealthy family and a chief in the police department. He even has a girlfriend, another police officer named Matsuri Tamagawa - but Yuji has taken notice of Rio and is openly trying to woo her. Rio, on the other hand, doesn't think Yuji is sincere enough and often blows him off – but Yuji keeps on trying. Matsuri has also taken notice of Rio – but because she is only thinking about preserving her upwardly-mobile plans, she thinks that Rio is trying to steal him away from her... and has made it known to her.
As for the action, the Warriors have got their hands full, whatever it's a biker gang, eco-terrorists, or a peeping-tom catburgler. But when a rival team begins to use measures that were too extreme, Rio, Maya and Lilica have to work to stop them!
