Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran
From OtakuWiki
Synopsis
Set during the time of the Edo Shogunate, "Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran" is not your typical samurai anime. The main reason for this is that, during a time when a man is often the strongest in the land, the heroes are actually HEROINES!
Ran Tsukikage is a female ronin (masterless samurai) who travels wherever the wind takes her. A simple but beautiful woman, her skill with the katana is matched only by her appetite for sakè... and she can usually drink a great amount of the stuff without feeling any ill effects. Sometimes in her travels – which is very often – Ran happens to encounter various people who suffer from some sorts of injustice, whereas she often lends her sword to set right whatever is wrong.
Meow of the Iron Cat Fist is often Ran's traveling companion. Originally a martial artist from China with a great sense of justice (and with little brains), Meow has the unenviable ability to stupidly get herself and those around her into all sorts of trouble – and fight her way out of it, if need be. She is often Ran’s sole source of money whenever she needs some for food or sakè (mostly it's sakè), and is often a faithful, if somewhat irritating, companion to the ronin. And whenever someone needs help (which is often), you can bet that Meow will be the one to back up Ran and her sword.
This anime is created and directed by Akitaro Daichi, who is more commonly known for creating and directing the two Jubei-chan series.
