Synopsis
In the summer of 2011 (in an alternate Earth), the tyrannical Holy Britannic Empire launches an attack upon Japan, aided by its army of Knightmare Frames, powerful mecha units. In less than a month, Japan is conquered, losing its freedom, rights – even its identity, the country renamed "Area 11", and its citizens renamed "Elevens". As a result, the Britannics enjoy a life of luxury as the conquerors, while the Elevens barely eke out a living. There is, however, rebel pockets struggling to free Japan, but are largely ignored.
Now seven years after those momentous events, Lelouch Vi Britannia, attending school under the name Lelouch Lamperouge, at one time a prince of the Britannic Empire but had broken away after his mother Marianne Vi Britannia was killed and his sister Nunnally Vi Britannia left crippled and blinded, now lives in Area 11 as a political hostage, dreaming of the day he can destroy the empire enslaving the Elevens. It was the miracle of luck that he found himself in the company of the rebels, and with the help of a young girl, an immortal named C.C., obtained the power of the Geass – the ability to compel others to his will! Taking up the guise of the mysterious Zero, Lelouch now begins his battle to destroy the Britannic Empire and seek a new world where Nunnally can live.
