Synopsis
Leiji Matsumoto, creator of Galaxy Express 999 and Queen Emeraldas, created this series of OVAs, which are loosely based on Richard Wagner's epic 4-opera cycle "Der Ring Des Nibelungen", and includes music composed by Wagner.
Investigating the destruction of a space station, Tochiro Oyama and Emeraldas discover that a long-forgotten prince has stolen the Rheingold from its home planet. He hopes to forge the stolen metal into a ring which would unleash the monsters of the universe if not unchecked! Emeraldas' friend, the legendary and honorable space pirate Captain Harlock moves to try to stem what would be unleashed... before Wotan, the king of the Norse gods, realizes what has happened!
