Leona Ozaki

Leona Ozaki is a character in the animes Dominion Tank Police and New Dominion Tank Police. Her Japanese seiyous (voice actors) are Hiromi Tsuru (Dominion) and Rei Sakuma (New Dominion), and her English voice actor in both series is Toni Barry.

Background

Leona Ozaki came up to Newport City's Tank Police battalion through Osaka's motorcycle division. She is distinguished as hard working and competent, although she had an abnormal love for mechanized vehicles. However, her first day in the Tank Police was almost her last. While onboard the personal tank of Lieutenant (later Captain) Charles Britain, she engaged in a pursuit of Buaku and Anna and Uni Puma, who had robbed a hospital of 'healthy people' (people who had developed no immunity to the bacteria-laden cloud surrounding the Earth, but suffered no ill effects) of samples of urine. The pursuit ended with the destruction of a building, Buaku and the Puma twins escaping, minus the urine – and Britain's tank destroyed! Angry at the destruction of his beloved tank, Britain had Leona reassigned to Child Protection, which he felt was a more appropriate duty for a policewoman.

Initially distraught, over both wrecking her commander's tank and her re-assignment, Leona, with the encouragement of Chaplain, worked with her partner Al in building a new, smaller tank, using the remaining parts from Britain's tank. While initially disdainful of the idea, Britain was soon won-over, not only by Leona's ingenuity, but also her rapid adaptability to the norms of the Tank Police, and rescinded her transfer.

Leona soon grew to be one of the Tank Police's most successful officers. At the same time, she also became one of the most notorious of the platoon. Despite being a Zen Buddhist, it turned out that Leona also has a bad temper, and is known to smash-up coffee makers for being too slow to brew. She also adapted a policy of 'shoot first and ask questions later' when dealing with criminals – even when they surrendered! And most notably, she had taken to heart one lesson from Britain – love your tank like a brother. Leona goes into an absolute rage whenever someone talks ill or damages her mini-tank Bonaparte – even if that damage happens to be a little scratch!

Bonaparte

As mentioned before, Bonaparte is Leona's custom-built tank, constructed from the remains of Britain's own custom tank. Although smaller and unable to handle very large ammunition, the tank is fairly capable of utilizing much of the ordinance the Tank Police uses. It also has a 20mm Vulcan cannon for long distance attacks.

Also, because of its small size, Bonaparte is faster and more maneuverable than the larger tanks normally used, even capable to enter buildings and cling to vertical shafts to get to the target. And as a result of being hand-built, Bonaparte is unusually durable, which is evident whenever a building is dropped on top of it. However, Leona is unusually protective of her tank, and would openly threaten - or attack - anyone who talks bad or scratches it.

However, because of the cramped interior, the tank is only able to seat two people, Leona and Al, comfortably. However, as much as four had been able to cram inside Bonaparte's small interior – the two police officers and the Puma sisters.
