Synopsis

Rin Asōgi is a most unusual woman. A private investigator working out of a run-down office in Tokyo's Shinjuku district, Rin is the type of woman who would take a job to look for a lost cat. Her partner Mimi, although looking like a teenager, has a taste for alcohol, as well as being a good hacker.

However, there is more to these women than is known. Both Rin and Mimi are immortals. Rin's existence is known by a few persons at least during the time Japan had lost World War II and is believed to be over a thousand years old; nobody knows how long Mimi was alive. The reason these women are alive were because of "time spores", supposedly entering into their bodies during their time of dying.

However, there are certain disadvantages to this – there are beings known as Angels, who seek to devour them because they are Immortals. And in the span of almost sixty-five years, Rin and Mimi face all sorts of enemies, as well as a demi-god named Apos, who has an unusual fascination with Rin - by hoping to make her a sacrifice so that he could become the guardian of the world-tree Yggdrasil.

There are also many shoujo-ai/yuri (lesbian) themes in this series, as featured in Aria, Maria Watches Over Us, Noir, Murder Princess, and Madlax.
