Synopsis

Possibly the greatest work from acclaimed anime creator/director Hayao Miyazaki (creator of Princess Mononoke and director of The Castle of Cagliostro), Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (earlier titled as 'Warriors of the Wind' by the previous licensor, Streamline Pictures) is a post-apocalyptic drama which showcases a young girl seeking to bring together warring factions – as well as fulfilling an ancient prophecy.

Nausicaä is the young daughter of King Jhil, the ailing leader of the People of the Valley of the Wind. Many years before, a titanic war left the Earth scarred, with an encroaching forest of toxic fungi steadily growing and spewing deadly gas. But because of the favorable winds, the valley Nausicaä lives in is safe from it... that is, until the Tolmekians attacked.

After soldiers of the Tolmekians kill King Jhil, Nausicaä finds herself at odds with Kushanna, the cyborg princess of the Tolmekians that wishes the valley as a home for her people. But Nausicaä has discovered a startling secret, mostly from her own explorations into the toxic forest – that a steady stream of fresh water can render the deadly fungi harmless. But soon Nausicaä, as well as her uncle Lord Yupa, has to fight not only the invaders of her home, but others wishing to use the mutated wildlife to secure the valley – as well as Nausicaä becoming the prophesied savior of all Earth!
