Synopsis

The events had been building for some time... and now, the stage has been set for the alternate ending of Anno Hideiko's groundbreaking anime series – what many fans had said should be the TRUE ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion, which proved to be a rival to the 1997 blockbuster Titanic in Japan!

It has been several days since the 17th and last Angel – Kawaro Nagisa – a.k.a. Tabris, the Angel of Free Will and the Fifth Child, had been destroyed. But for many in NERV, this had left more casualties than expected. For one, Asuka Langley Sohryu, the Second Child, is now catatonic, unable to deal with recent defeats that she suffered. The Third Child, Shinji Ikari, is a mental wreak, having to deal with killing Kawaro in the first place. As for the First Child, the third Rei Ayanami... she has withdrawn, her whereabouts only known by Gendo Ikari, NERV's head.

For the rest of NERV, everyone is seriously wondering of their fates now that the war with the Angels is over. Ritsuko Akagi is under arrest, having destroyed the Rei clones that made up the 'Dummy Plug' project. But Misato Katsuragi, NERV's strategic commander, has finally deciphered data that her dead lover Ryoiji Kaji had uncovered regarding the Human Instrumentality Project – the secret project led by Gendo which would lead humanity back to its former innocence lost because of the First Temptation, in turn saving it from the fate foretold within the Dead Sea Scrolls.

However, the mysterious organization SEELE , led by Keel Lorenz, has lost faith in Gendo to carry out its agenda, which would be the implimentation of the Human Instrumentality Project. When the first attempt in seizing control of NERV, by trying to seize control of the three MAGI computers had failed, SEELE has NERV's protection in the United Nations revoked, prompting the Imperial Japanese Self Defence Force to make a bloody attack on the organization, killing many of the personnel there. As events escalate further, many things happen – which includes Asuka's return to lucidity while battling the invaders and Evangelions built by SEELE, and Misato, at the sacrifice of her life, assuring Shinji's safety on board Evangelion Unit 01. But when Gendo tries to use Rei to resurrect his dead wife Yui, then what all of NERV was trying to prevent - Third Impact - is unleashed!!!

Will Shinji prove to be the final redemption of all mankind – or will he condemn it to oblivion?
