Synopsis

"Tenchi the Movie II: The Daughter of Darkness" is the second of three Tenchi movies. Even though this movie is based on the reality of the Tenchi OVA's, it has as a character Kiyone Makibi, who is principally a character in Tenchi Universe.

Background

It was during the annual Startica festival on Jurai over 700 years before where a young Prince Yosho had met a young girl named Yuzuha. It was later, when the two were caught by palace guards that the truth came out: Yuzuha was in actuality a murderous demon who, for some reason, had fallen in love with him. As a result, she was driven away, her heart broken and embittered by the experience.

It was 700 years later, and around Christmastime, Yuzuha soon discovers that Yosho, now known as the Shinto priest Katsuhito Masaki, was now living on Earth... and that he has a grandson – Tenchi – who is surrounded by six other women. Seeing an opportunity for revenge, Yuzuha concocts a plan by obtaining several hairs from Tenchi's head and combines them with her own hairs.

Six months later, on a hot summer day, Tenchi comes home from cleaning the tombstone of his mother when he meets a new girl – Mayuka! And even stranger, Mayuka starts calling Tenchi "Daddy"! Well, this news doesn't go over well with the other girls – especially a very suspicious Ryoko Hakubi, and she is determined to get rid of this new interloper. Trouble is, Mayuka seems to have all of Tenchi's powers – including the Lighthawk Sword!

Quickly, Mayuka finds herself making friends with the other girls – especially Sasami. However, several events lead Washu, as well as Katsuhito, to suspect something else was afoot. Then Yuzuha strikes, using Mayuka to take Sasami hostage to her world. So now Tenchi and Ryoko have to travel to Yuzuha's world and try to get to the bottom of the situation. But can Tenchi save both Sasami and Mayuka in a realm which his powers may not work... as well as Yuzuha using Mayuka to gain revenge on Tenchi?
