Synopsis
Hitoshi Okuda, creator of No Need for Tenchi!, returns with an all-new series of manga, again based on the Tenchi Muyo! OVA series after OVA 2.
Once again, the Masaki clan (Tenchi Masaki, Ryoko Hakubi, Ayeka Misaki Jurai, Sasami Misaki Jurai, Ryo-Ohki, Mihoshi Kuramitsu and Washu Hakubi – as well as Ryoko's twin Minagi) have to deal with things like Ryoko trying to earn money to get Tenchi a new garden hoe. There is also a story featuring how Sasami was able to sooth Ayeka's broken heart 700 years before with carrot cake – and Ayeka doesn't like carrots (this story also features a cameo appearance by Ayeka and Sasami's grandmother Seto Kamiki Jurai, who would later appear in Tenchi OVA 3, as well as Tenchi Muyo! GXP: Galaxy Police Transporter).
Other unusual stories crop up, such as when Sasami decides to attend school on Earth. However, when one student incurs the wrath of her father, Juraian emperor Azusa Masaki Jurai, Tenchi has to stop the monarch from killing the kid. Also, an experiment by Washu suddenly has Mihoshi looking more like a genius. And on the eve of a sake festival (some of the contests include drinking huge amounts of the sacred beverage), the one hope for the clan, Ryoko, has came-down with a rare and huge hangover - but goes forward despite her discomfort!
Of course, nothing in the Masaki clan is all fun-and-games. Occasionally, some danger rears its ugly head which they have to deal with. One of these is a Washu look-alike, but controlled by the mind template of Washu's rival Dr. Clay. And the last story has an old disciple of the gang's dead enemy Kagato using a particularly cruel method to get to Tenchi – by disguising herself as Tenchi's long-dead mother Kiyone!
