Darkside Blues
From OtakuWiki
Synopsis
In a futuristic Earth, almost the entire planet is under the control of a single corporation, Persona Century. Dissent to Persona is strictly repressed, although there is a small rebel faction struggling to free the planet for its control. In the meantime, the Hazuki siblings maintain strict control, older brother Guren venturing out rarely, and only while wearing a mask, while his sadistic younger sister Tamaki often entertains herself by torturing some of the Anti-Persona rebels they come across. However, a dark secret Persona has held in check for a number of years frees itself, and heads down to one of the few places that the corporation doesn't control – namely the Tokyo district of Shinjuku.
Once there, this enigmatic being, a sad-faced young man calling himself Darkside, soon makes friends with the local rebel group there, Messiah, and their feisty leader Mai. As it turns out, his appearance has come no sooner – an Anti-Persona rebel, Kenzo, soon finds himself within the city, which Mai rescues. She then takes the wounded man to a nurse friend of hers, Selia. The young woman was the child of Anti-Persona rebels – until Persona destroyed their home from their orbital headquarters while Selia was gone. Still feeling the pain from the attack, Selia is immersed with her own pain and doubts. However, with help from her friends – and from Darkside – she may find the clues to finding the purpose of her life.
This anime is based on the manga by Hideyuki Kikuchi, who had also created Vampire Hunter D.
