This series has a very unusual story. Originally, it was intended to be part of the hentai anime series Cream Lemon. However, director Katsuhiko Nishijima saw a bigger potential as a mainstream anime. So just after the first episode was completed, Nishijima had the hentai parts edited out, and as a result, the series had become a benchmark for all anime series.

Synopsis

A-ko Magami likes to think of herself as an average, normal girl... if you think NORMAL is being superhumanly strong! She lives in Graviton City, which was built out of the impact crater carved by a meteor that destroyed the previous city and killed everyone there.

Every morning, she, along with her friend C-ko Kotobuki, would make a mad dash to the school they go to – usually barreling through everything in the way, mostly because they're late for school!

Now C-ko is a nice enough girl, and doesn't mind having A-ko as a friend. However, it's any wonder why A-ko would stay anywhere near her, with all the screeching crying fits C-ko throws! And when it comes to cooking bento boxes for A-ko, C-ko's could be LETHAL, if the excessive amounts of spices she uses in them is any indication.

Unfortunately, A-ko's friendship with C-ko has gotten her a rival – B-ko Daitokuji, the spoiled-rotten but technically-talented daughter of an industrialist. It seems that long ago B-ko wanted C-ko to herself (she used to bully the poor girl until A-ko stopped her), and challenged A-ko to a fight to the finish in order to get her. But A-ko moved-out before the duel, and they only got back together recently.

So now B-ko is sending all sorts of mechas designed and built by her, and piloted by girls she conned into manning them, against A-ko - only to see them get pounded to scrap by A-ko! As a result, B-ko has taken matters into her own hands, and built a battlesuit which she intends to use against A-ko! The two then resume their battle, which runs through the school and the surrounding city.

While this is going on, however, a mysterious spaceship is making its way towards Earth – but for what is unknown.
